COVID-19 Policy

At Design Matters Tokyo, the safety measures regarding COVID-19 will be as follows.  This is based on the event measures determined by the Tokyo administration.  We apologize for the inconvenience, but please help us make this event a safe and comfortable place for everyone.

Update 5/2/2022
– The entrance flow has been changed to antigen testing instead of showing proof of vaccination and PCR testing.
– Rules regarding food and drinks in the venue have been changed.

General Rules
– An antigen test will be provided upon entrance so please do a 15 min test in the waiting room before entrance
– Temperature measurement and alcohol disinfection are required to enter the venue
– Other than eating or drinking, please wear masks at all times

Negative PCR tests or Proof of Vaccination
At the moment, there are no restrictions for this type and size of event.
However, to help prevent the spread of the virus, Design Matters will still require all participants to do an antigen test provided at the venue entrance. Those with a positive test result will not be allowed to join the event.

Hygienic measures
Hand sanitizer will be at everyone’s disposal in the spaces of the event. All participants will need to wear masks and keep them on as much as possible.

Eating and drinking at the venue
Although we plan to take adequate measures against infectious diseases, in order to ensure the safety and security of the event, we will not be serving food and alcohol at the venue. We are planning to prepare lunch at a nearby restaurant.

The rules
Do not show up if you have symptoms of illness and you have been in areas where there may be a potential risk of infection. We require that participants, speakers, and staff get tested for COVID-19 before attending the event if they have not received the vaccine yet.

We trust the sense of responsibility of the people taking part in the event to act in a way that doesn’t put others in danger. If you have taken a test, and you test positive for COVID-19, please do not attend the physical event (you can still get a Live Stream ticket and enjoy the conference!).

Who can travel to Japan
You need specific invitations and certificates approved by a Japanese business entity to fly into Japan. Design Matters cannot do this for you, so you need to find a local entity.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.  Border measures are changing quite frequently, so we suggest you find the latest info from the government.
